A record of the museum I forgot about

During my trip to Nagoya in March

A place I went to at the request of a friend who accompanied me

Yamazaki Mazak Museum of Art

Directly connected to Shin-Sakaemachi Station on the Higashiyama subway line

A collection of 300 years of French art from the 18th to 20th centuries

Plus Art Nouveau glass art and furniture

I went there without any expectations and it was amazing

And photos are allowed except for some artists

It felt like I went to an elegant French museum

Germany Polyphon's disc music box. When the staff put a coin in, a deep melody played. It made me feel even more elegant. It said that they play every day from 2pm, and I went around 3:30pm, but I was super lucky to be able to listen to it. There were also bedroom furniture by Louis Majorelle. Oh, there were also many Art Nouveau glass crafts on display. Emile Gallé. A vase with a fragrant lily design. A chest of drawers by Emile Gallé. A lamp with a landscape design by Dome. I was soaking in the elegant atmosphere and was about to leave when I looked up in the elevator hall. A chandelier by Dome. The glass shade was made by Dome. The iron fittings were made by Edgar Brandt, a metalwork artist who is a representative of French Art Deco. I almost overlooked this. Even though there was so much to see, the admission fee was only 1,000 yen. Yamazaki Mazak is super rich. What kind of company is this? I was looking at it without knowing.

It seems to be a major Japanese machine tool manufacturer.

Next to the exit on the first floor

There was a Yamazaki Mazak exhibition room.

Entry is free, but photography is prohibited.

Even though I'm just an amateur,

there were some really impressive machines on display.

Japanese manufacturing is amazing.
